Susan Sarandon has never been afraid to speak her mind—or wear what she wants. The award-winning actress, known for iconic roles inThe Rocky Horror Picture Show,Thelma & Louise, andDead Man Walking, has built a reputation for challenging expectations both on and off the screen.
At one red carpet event, Sarandon sparked debate by wearing a white jacket over a black bra. While many praised her confidence, one journalist criticized the look as “totally inappropriate.” Rather than responding with a lengthy statement, Sarandon let a photo do the talking, sharing an older picture of herself in her underwear to make it clear she wasn’t interested in letting others define what was appropriate for her.
Now 79, Sarandon has embraced aging with confidence and says she’s more focused on spending time with people who are “vital, curious, brave, and adventurous” than worrying about criticism. She believes laughter, regular exercise, healthy eating, and protecting your skin from the sun are some of the best ways to age gracefully—while also giving credit to a great makeup and hair team.
Throughout her career, Sarandon has remained true to herself, refusing to let public opinion dictate her choices. Whether people admire her bold style or disagree with it, she continues to live life on her own terms. What do you think of Susan Sarandon’s response to the criticism?
